“Jon & Kate Plus 8” is over forever. The series finale will be aired this Monday, and the former couple even shares a final interview together. The episode focuses on them each trying to make the transition into single parenthood, and frankly most of it sounds like old news. Kate takes the kids to a dairy farm and Jon takes them to a fire station. We saw pictures of Jon and the kids with the firemen this past summer, so even though it’s just airing now, most of it is old news that’s already been reported on the internet. It will be fun to watch Jon and Kate squirm on that infamous couch though.

Monday marks the end of TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8. What can fans expect?

During the final hour, the estranged parents of young twins and sextuplets will venture on separate outings with the kids. Jon, 32, takes the kids to a fire station near the family home in Wernersville, Pa., while Kate, 34, brings them to local dairy farm.

Individually, Jon and Kate reflect on what the past has meant and what the future might hold.

In September, TLC made the shocking announcement that as of Nov. 2, Jon would no longer appear on the reality series and that the program would be re-titled Kate Plus 8.

But the plan got axed after Jon objected to his kids appearing on TV, saying that it was hurting them.

“Kate Plus 8 is not in production,” TLC spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg said Thursday. “We are focusing on the launch of Kate’s new series in early spring.” No other details were available.

Jon and Kate Plus 8 — which first debuted on April 16, 2007 — experienced a ratings spike earlier this year, thanks to the chaotic personal lives of its main stars.

The fifth season premiere drew a record 9.8 million viewers, but ratings began to dip significantly. A pair of episodes premiering earlier this week averaged 2.1 million viewers.

I wonder how TLC is going to portray Jon in the episode. I mean the guy is suing them, claiming that THEY damaged his reputation (and thus career). How rich. Supposedly TLC is the reason no one else will work with Jon. Not that he’s an epic douche who pals around with Michael Lohan, seemingly neglects his responsibility to his kids, and tries to get up any skirt he can. It’s hard to imagine how TLC could possible frame the guy in a positive, “I’m trying to be a good dad” light. Especially considering the looks on his face at the firehouse. He just looked so pissed to even be there. What camera angle can disguise that?

I do, however, hope for at least a little bit of sniping between Jon and Kate during their last interview. But something tells me we won’t see it, since everyone’s so lawyer-happy. It’s sad to witness the destruction of a family – but at least it seems like we won’t be watching as much of it from now on.
