This is Robert Downey Jr. entering the Ed Sullivan Theatre, about to appear on The Late Show last night. This purple scarf is doing something to my brain. RDJ looks really, really f-cking hot here. Not only that, but on the show I’m pleased to say that Downey was the most subdued he’s been in months. Of course, Downey’s “most subdued” is still pretty manic compared to most people, but RDJ seems like a really cool guy once he’s not chattering like a monkey. Anyway, it seemed like David Letterman really likes RDJ, and they talked in a very easy, breezy way the whole interview. Here’s part of the interview, with HuffPo’s transcript of part of the conversation:
Robert Downey Jr.’s troubled past came back to bite him on a recent trip to Japan, where he was promoting ‘Iron Man 2.’
He told David Letterman Wednesday night that he was hassled at the airport for years-old felony convictions, “not recent stuff like you or Tiger.”
“I probably should have seen there was a sign that said ‘No Felons Allowed’ in English and Japanese and I haven’t had that expunged yet,” he said. “You can actually get things expunged but I’ve been pretty busy. So I was detained, I was interrogated. It was a blast.”
“Haven’t you settled up? Haven’t you paid your debts?” Letterman asked.
“Clearly I haven’t paid my debts to Japan,” said Downey.

In other RDJ news, the Iron Man 2 full theatrical trailer was just released, and it pretty much rocks. Yes, RDJ is pretty cool in it, but Mickey Rourke (as “Whiplash”) looks absolutely amazing, and his Russian accent sounds very authentic too! Of course, Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow look like the weakest damn parts of the movie. ScarJo does this weird kind of flip and she ends up on all fours, of course. Boring. ScarJo, not the trailer - the trailer is awesome!
