Last week it was confirmed that Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer had broken up yet again. The couple seemed quite lovey-dovey at the Oscars in February, but just weeks later the rumor mill was saying that they’d called it quits again. Early reports said that Mayer was the one who ended things with Aniston, but now there are sources claiming that it was Aniston who did the dumping after Mayer supposedly “turned cold” while she was in Europe promoting her movie.

A source said her decision came after Mayer “went cold” following the Oscars.

The actress’s claim contradicts reports that Mayer was the one who ended their affair. Pals said Jen felt angry and used.

A source added: “They had a great time at the Oscars, but he seemed to go cold right after.

“It’s humiliating. To say her feelings are hurt is an understatement.”

This “hot and cold” thing seems to be Mayer’s standard playbook. Remember when he was dating Jessica Simpson – one minute he couldn’t stop singing her praises; the next minute he was denying that they were even an item. This guy is a player, for sure. What I can’t figure out is why Jennifer even gave him a second chance at all. Was she that hard-up for a date to the Oscars? If it were me, I’d have rather gone alone. Or better yet, take along that adorable yellow lab from “Marley and Me.” He’s probably less of a dog than Mayer!
