The Sun has got some crazy story about Madonna being reasonable. Even generous. While that’s not the actual subject of their story, it ought to be. Because it’s that unusual. According to the paper, she’s agreed to let sons Rocco and David spend the entire summer with ex-husband Guy Ritchie. Guy’s said to be understandably enthused, and not a little bit surprised, given their acrimonious history.

MADONNA and GUY RITCHIE have finally called a truce — with the Queen of Pop agreeing he can look after their children for three months. Guy is “over the moon” that Madge is handing over their son Rocco, eight, and adopted David Banda, four, during the summer as she embarks on a European tour.

The surprise news comes just weeks after Madonna won a court order to name the US as the boys’ permanent home — leaving Guy “gutted”. A close source said last night: “Guy absolutely dotes on his children and can’t wait to have them for a whole three months.

“He is surprised and pleased that Madonna is being so generous — as she has at times been impossible… Madonna will be travelling a lot and agreed it makes sense for them to stay with Guy rather than constantly be uprooted.”

RocknRolla director Guy, 40, is now making renovations to the Ashcombe mansion in Wiltshire the couple used to share, in time for Rocco and David’s arrival in June. He plans an outhouse with an indoor pool for the lads — an idea Madonna, 50, had vetoed. The friend said: “He’ll make it a summer they won’t forget.”

Guy wants to tear down Madge’s decorations at Ashcombe to remove traces of her and reinvent it as a family home.

Well good for them. I’d like to make a lot of bitchy digs at Madonna – because honestly I find it really hard not to – but I feel she needs to be heavily encouraged to behave like a decent human being, and we need to make a really big deal out of it when she does. Whoops.

But the boys need their dad just as much as they need their mom. And by most reports she doesn’t spend more than half an hour a day with them even when they’re all together. Guy, on the other hand, seems to do a better job of making his kids his first priority. It’s a little sad Lourdes won’t be going with her brothers, as from most reports she and Guy had a good relationship. And I’m a big believer that it’s important not to split up siblings. Luckily it’s not for that long, and hopefully this indicates the beginning of a new, more cordial custody-sharing relationship.
