Jessica Simpson’s Type: “A Man With a Cute Butt”

After a string of failed romances – Nick Lachey, Adam Levine, John Mayer — Jessica Simpson says she is now looking for a different type of guy: a family man.

“Like, if a kid were to come up to him and tug on his shirt, he’d pick him up on twirl him around,” she explained on The View Thursday. “I definitely love a family man, a guy that’s not afraid to pick up the babies.”

Oh yeah, she added: “And somebody who wants to meet my grandparents immediately … if he has a cute butt, that’s all right.”

(Her celeb crush? “[George] Clooney is a little hottie,” she gushed. “He’s a man!”

Still the single singer, 27, said she is too busy for love at the moment.

“I’m kind of married to my music right now and focusing on writing an album,” said Simpson, who is recording a country album in Nashville.

OK! Exclusive: Jessica Simpson’s Country Troubles

Jessica Simpson has her work cut out for her if she wants to make it in Nashville.

As reported by OK! a few weeks ago, the pop tart has descended upon the town to record her first country album, but some players of the game believe the 27-year-old needs to step up to the plate.

“She is definitely going to have to work hard to prove herself in Nashville because people are judged on talent and merit, not where they eat in L.A. or shop or go to clubs,” a source tells OK! at the BMI Awards in Nashville, where Jess was accompanied pal Willie Nelson.

A strong work ethic is key since Jess is “working with some of the most talented producers and songwriters in the business so she’s not going to be able to skate by.”

The buxom blonde is currently collaborating with John Rich of Big & Rich on tunes and reportedly flexing her songwriting muscles, a skill she’s been honing since her last album, 2006’s A Public Affair, showing dedication on her part.

“I do think she is really committed to working hard and raising the bar on the music she releases.”

Jessica: “I Need a Boston Man!”

While her ex-hubby, Nick Lachey, is busy romancing current main squeeze Vanessa Minnillo in sunny Puerto Rico, Jessica Simpson had a not-so-tropical setting on her mind. “Boston has cute boys,” the singer/actress tells TV’s Extra. “I need a Boston man. A Boston man is closest to a Southern man.”

In the interview, set to air Tuesday night, the former Newlywed confirms what OK! recently reported — that she’s working on a country album in Nashville. “I can’t wait to share my heart with the world,” she explains. “I really can’t wait to let people in on what I’ve experienced — the fun, the good, the bad, the happy, the sad… it’ll be a very personal album.”

Looking forward to the holidays, Jess says she can’t wait to spend time with her family. “We try and have family outings… it’s always real special when it’s the four of us because normally there are so many people around us.”

Check out Extra Tuesday night for the entire interview.

Jessica Simpson Is Going Country

Jessica Simpson is ready to add another accessory to her always-stylish look – a cowboy hat.

The singer is “talking about doing a country record and going back to her roots, being from Texas,” Jessica’s father and manager, Joe Simpson, told PEOPLE at Hard Rock Hotel’s Rolling Stone party in Las Vegas.

“Everything in our business is about beats and I think she really wants to sing,” he said, “and country music still believes in that.”

Simpson, 27, recently finished filming Major Movie Star and is turning her thoughts back to her music. Her last album, 2006’s “Public Affair,” hit the Top 20, but quickly fell off the charts.

“She’s a singer from top to bottom,” Joe Simpson said. “And everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left.”

On whether she will be accepted among country fans, he said, “She’s from Texas. How could she not?”

Jessica Simpson Takes Over Balcony During Party

Jessica Simpson infuriated fashionistas at a W magazine bash in NYC on Wednesday night when she took over an entire balcony and barred guests from the area.

The party — which was honoring Simpson’s new stylist Britt Bardo — was extremely hot and guests kept retreating to the balcony to cool off and get some fresh air. But after Simpson arrived, publicists cleared out the entire patio for the singer and her posse, angering the crowd and causing most of the guests to leave.

“It was so hot and she got the whole thing just for herself? I am livid,” one eyewitness told Us.

Once outside, Simpson, 27, talked mostly to her mane man Ken Paves and danced while publicists fiercely guarded the door and wouldn’t let any other guests on the patio.

But at least Simpson was in high spirits. “I am doing great and really enjoying fashion week,” she told Us.

The pop star told USA Today that she is looking forward to Fashion Week this year because she is finally “coming as a designer.”

“I get to be here as a fashionista. I get to come as someone who has made a product that people like,” she said referring to her successful shoe line. “I want to wear heels all the time and the fact that my shoes are doing the numbers that they are doing means everyone wants to wear heels all the time, too.”

Jessica Simpson Dodges an Encounter with John Mayer

Of all the hotel lobbies in all the world, John Mayer had to walk into Jessica Simpson’s.The songstress was thrown for a loop Tuesday night when she arrived at New York’s SoHo Grand Hotel and learned her ex-beau was waiting in the lobby.

No, he wasn’t waiting for Jessica. John was visiting a friend who was staying at the hotel, but upon hearing news that she could run into him, a pal of Jessica’s tells OK!, “She got very tense and nervous about seeing him and started primping and adjusting her clothes. You could tell she didn’t want to see him.” Since the two parted ways in the spring, they have remained on friendly terms, texting and talking on the phone, but they have yet to physically see each other, her friend adds. “It’s the idea that looking good is the best revenge.”

Unbeknownst to Jessica, her assistant Adrienne Sands coordinated with hotel staff to ask John to either go to his friend’s room or leave altogether. When told the reason for being asked to leave, according to an eyewitness, “John laughed and said, ‘Sure.’ He didn’t cause a scene. He said to give Jess a big hug for him.”

Jessica Simpson Jealous of John and Cameron

Jessica Simpson’s new color is green.

A source close to the singer tells Us Simpson is “really jealous” that ex John Mayer is seeing Cameron Diaz. “She had her mouth open a mile wide when she found out,” says the source. “She just freaked.”

Simpson, 27, parted ways with Mayer, 29, in May after dating him on and off for seven months, and “she thinks about him all the time,” says the source. “She is so not over him.”

Meanwhile, Simpson seems to be a distant memory for Mayer, who has continued his summer romance with Diaz, 35, in NYC. Though they spent August 22 and 23 apart (he hit the gym and recorded at a studio; she shopped and then lunched at Mary’s Fish Camp), they finally squeezed in quality time in the wee hours of August 24 at hot spot Socialista. The pair — who left at 4 a.m. through different exits — “were very cozy,” says a witness.

Echoes a source close to the new couple, “They’re happy.”

Vivica A. Fox: Jessica Simpson ‘Diva’ Rumors Are ‘Lies’

Vivica A. Fox is shooting down talk of Jessica Simpson’s alleged diva-like behavior on the set of their new film together, Major Movie Star – labeling recent reports nothing but “vicious lies.”

Fox, a favorite on Dancing with the Stars, tells PEOPLE she was “shocked” when a story surfaced from Major Movie Star’s Louisiana location accusing Simpson of being a “spoiled brat” by supposedly refusing to walk from one place to the next without a driver, eating alone in her trailer and barely speaking to her costars, especially Fox.

“Those vicious lies they put out were just that – lies,” Fox, 43, said Saturday during an event for the fashion label Young, Fabulous & Broke at the LG House in Malibu.

In fact, Fox said that Simpson was anything but a diva. “She was so much of a team player. She was gracious and so down to earth.”

In the comedy, which also stars Cheri Oteri and Steve Guttenberg, Simpson plays a movie star who suddenly falls from grace and finds herself broke. She then enlists in the U.S. Army with the hope the service will change her life.

Fox plays a tough sergeant who whips Simpson’s character into shape. Speaking of Simpson, Fox said, “She showed a lot of physicality, like 90 percent of all her own stunts, and she sacrificed so much of her body for this movie”

Literally. While filming last week, Simpson accidentally injured her nose with a prop gun.

“During the scene,” remembers Fox, “she looked really intense when I looked in her eyes, and I just thought she was really into it. But when the director [Steve Miner] yelled, ‘Cut,’ Jessica came over to me and said, ‘Vivica I hit my nose with the gun.’ ”

Explains Fox, “We got ice immediately … Most girls would’ve stopped right then and there, but she was ready to do another take. She’s wonderful.”

Dissecting Signature Style: Jessica Simpson

Yesterday we learned that Jessica Biel is “open and uncomplicated.” Today we venture into the dark penmanship secrets of yet another Jessica, this one of the Simpson variety.

Sheila Lowe, forensic handwriting expert and author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Handwriting Analysis tells Usmagazine.com, “Jessica Simpson’s signature features circles upon circles and a heart. The thick, dark line of ink suggest a sensuous nature, someone who seeks the ‘finer things’ in life.”

Simpson’s signature also speaks to an inner conflict.

“The large size and large lower loops indicate plenty of physical energy and drive. Yet, while she loves to be center stage, that bid for attention conflicts with the illegibility–on one hand she wants to be seen, but other hand, she’s hiding behind a facade.”

Don’t miss tomorrow, when we’ll have Lowe’s opinion on Lindsay Lohan’s autograph!
