In a new interview with V magazine, Brad Pitt claims he maintains a “deep friendship” with his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, 38, and defends how he ended their four-and-a-half year marriage in January 2005. Among his bombshells: that he stifled his attraction to Angelina Jolie, 32, until after he and Aniston had ended the relationship.

“The most important thing about that time was for Jen and me to figure out if – how do I put it? – if we didn’t want to go on without any outside influence,” he tells the magazine of the last days of his marriage, which were marked by media reports of an affair with his Mr. and Mrs. Smith costar.

“Is this where we got off? Have we taken this as far as we wanted to go?” He concludes, “Those questions had to be answered before an attraction to Angie could be answered.”

Asked if he still approves of how he handled the split, Pitt, 43, saying that protecting all parties involved was most important to him, replies, “I don’t know how better to have handled it…The thing guiding me then was you don’t know how many days you have, and you need life to be everything you need it to be.”

Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore enjoyed a girls’ night out together over dinner at the celebrity favorite Tower Bar restaurant at L.A.’s chic Sunset Tower Hotel on Friday, Aug. 31 — Jen has been spotted there in the past with former flame Paul Sculfor.

The two friends were discussing their upcoming film project, He’s Just Not That Into You, the movie they’re shooting this month with Scarlett Johansson, Justin Long, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Connelly and possibly Ben Affleck. Drew is also starring and producing the film. This is Jen’s first movie since her self-imposed hiatus after splitting with Break-Up co-star Vince Vaughn.

They sat at a corner table after arriving at 8:30 and left separately two hours later. Jen was wearing a white cap-sleeved top — she’s never looked better. Drew wore a dress. They drank sparkling mineral water and a little white wine, and split side order of truffle fries.

“There was lots of laughing and animated discussion,” an eyewitness tells OK!

Insiders tell us that he goes deep into his relationships with Jen and with babymama Angelina Jolie. Brad, who Jen once described as “missing a sensitivity chip,” has never really talked about their high-profile divorce, focusing instead on his work and kids. While no quotes are being released, and no one is confirming the details of the interview, we can’t wait to read it.

Jennifer Aniston’s rep is denying reports that she gave an interview to Britain’s Look magazine in which she dishes on her former fling, Paul Sculfor, and a recent meeting with Brad Pitt and daughter Shiloh.

An article in the new issue of Look magazine (excerpted by The Sun claims that Aniston recently ran into Pitt and his daughter in a restaurant, and that she has plans to fly to London to see Sculfor on a regular basis.

“I was very sad last month when he went back to live in London,” the magazine “quotes” Aniston, 38. “But I’m going to be buying a lot of return tickets to Europe in the next few months so we can see each other.”

However, Aniston’s rep, Stephen Huvane, says that the article is a work of fiction.

“The interview never happened,” says Huvane. “The events like Jennifer running into Brad with Shiloh at a restaurant is completely false as well, as are all the events and quotes they attribute to Jennifer.”

Look also falsely quotes the actress admitting that she was “turning into Bridget Jones” after she and Pitt, 43, divorced, spending days “lying on the floor surrounded by ice cream.”
