OK! Exclusive: Jamie Lynn Registers for Baby Shower

OK! has learned that earlier today, Jamie Lynn Spears, the pregnant 16-year-old Zoey 101 star and little sister of pop superstar Britney Spears, made the trip from her home in Kentwood, La., to pay a visit to a Babies ‘R’ Us store in Baton Rouge. The reason? To put together her registry for her upcoming baby shower!

Wearing a huge ring — on her left hand — and sporting a shirt that says “The Rumors Are True,” Jamie Lynn, who is reported to be engaged to her 18-year-old boyfriend Casey Aldridge, and a female friend made the nearly 80-mile trek in an SUV to the baby supply mecca, where eyewitnesses spotted the pair putting together the list of items to be registered as potential gifts for the yet-unnamed child, who is expected to be born in the early part of the summer.

In December, Jamie Lynn famously revealed her shocking pregnancy in an exclusive interview with OK!. Since that time, she has finished her high school education and generally laid low in Kentwood while spending as much time with Casey as possible.

Jamie Lynn: Can Her Reputation Be Saved?

Jamie Lynn Spears’ unplanned pregnancy at 16 is a public relations nightmare! Britney Spears’ sister was seen as a role model to millions based on her wholesome Nickelodeon character on Zoey 101. So can teen mom-to-be salvage her image? Robert Zimmerman, managing director of Middleberg Communications in New York City, says she can! “This is Hollywood. If she raises the child properly and acts like a responsible parent, unlike her sister, then she can continue to have a successful career further down the line,” Zimmerman tells Star. The crisis management expert, who has worked with famous clients such as Diddy and Michael Eisner, also analyzed Jamie Lynn’s decision to announce her pregnancy on a magazine cover and offered up some advice for the young star.

HOW WOULD YOU HAVE ADVISED JAMIE LYNN TO ANNOUNCE HER PREGNANCY?
First I would have consulted with Nickelodeon and her family together. Once we were all on the same page and knowing the media would be all over this because she is Britney’s sister, I would have gone to a trusted veteran news reporter or journalist who could understand both sides of the issue. The she could do a proper sit down interview. I wouldn’t have suggested or recommended my client pose for a magazine cover.

IS IT A GOOD IDEA OR A BAD IDEA TO DO A MAGAZINE COVER TO ANNOUNCE YOU ARE PREGNANT?
Bad idea. I would not have come out with a splashy magazine cover. It is my opinion Jamie Lynn posed for it because she is always referred to as Britney’s little sister and this was a great way to grab the spotlight away from her.

SHOULD JAMIE LYNN ACCEPT ANY MONEY, NOW OR IN THE FUTURE, FOR HER STORY?
Unfortunately, accepting money for baby pictures has become the norm in Hollywood. If she does get money for the first snap shots, as her publicist I’d want her to donate the money to a charity that deals with teenage pregnancy. This will help her image and help girls less fortunate then Jamie Lynn. She should not capitalize on her mistake.

FROM A CRISIS MANAGEMENT STANDPOINT, IS IT A GOOD IDEA OR BAD IDEA FOR JAMIE LYNN TO MARRY THE BABY’S FATHER?
If they are going to get proper family support from both sides and the baby will be raised in an appropriate family environment, unlike her sister’s situation, then yes. However, if this being done just for publicity then no, because it will backfire on them especially if they get divorced. The odds are they will not be together in 5 years because they are so young now and will need time to grow and mature into adults.

IF YOU WERE JAMIE LYNN’S ADVISER, HOW WOULD YOU SOFTEN THINGS?
She should not seen partying and if she is seen in public, she should make sure she’s doing responsible things for the baby. But try and remain out of the limelight as much as possible. No more interviews and don’t talk to any more media.

HOW WOULD YOU ADVISE JAMIE LYNN’S MOM, LYNNE SPEARS?
Lynne should have understood that her younger daughter was looking to garner attention and allowing her to do a magazine cover was irresponsible. There is no way Jamie Lynn could have done this without Lynne’s blessing. Doing this in such a public way was a mistake and Lynn should have known that. Getting paid for this was even worse and questions her skills as a parent. To capitalize on this was a mistake.

WHO WOULD YOU SAY DID A GOOD JOB HANDLING THEIR UNEXPECTED PREGNANCY?
Nicole Richie sat down for a proper interview with Diane Sawyer. She also donated gifts from her baby shower and gave away lots of baby goods to those less fortunate. Nicole’s is a textbook example of the way this situation should be handled.

Jamie Lynn Spears Scandal: Nickelodeon May Air Teen Pregnancy Special

Nickelodeon is considering airing a special about sex and love after its Zoey 101 star Jamie Lynn Spears announced she was pregnant at age 16 this past week.

Veteran newswoman Linda Ellerbee, who has done shows before on the network, would host, the Associated Press reports. “I think it’s important that something be done,” she said.

Spears surprised many when she announced she was pregnant on Tuesday.

But many parents — whose children tune in to Zoey 101 — are finding themselves in the awkward position of having to explain the scandal to their kids.

NYC-based psychotherapist Robi Ludwig gave Usmagazine.com these five tips:

1. Ask your children questions
“Find out what your children’s thoughts are: What’s your understanding? What do you think about Jamie Lynn being pregnant at 16 and unmarried?”

2. Be honest
“Parents need to be straight forward and say, ‘This is not a wise choice.’”

3. See if your child knows about birth control
“Do they understand that having [unprotected sex] is not a wise decision? It’s very hard because kids will probably always have facts before their parents are ready to give them. But you have to deal with that kind of discomfort.”

4. Tell them the consequences of having a baby so young
“In general, the statement needs to be, ‘It’s a really sad situation.’ Tell them it’s ideal to have a child when you’re an adult, and you’ve had a whole range of experiences and you’re ready to settle down in your life. It’s not ideal when you’re a teenager.”

5. Help them find a new role model
“I think it’s fair to say, ‘This is not who you want to emulate. You might like her, enjoy her work, but her personal life is not one you want to emulate.’”

World Exclusive: Jamie Lynn Spears—”I’m Pregnant”

Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of Britney Spears, is pregnant with the child of her boyfriend of over two years, Casey Aldridge. And in an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK! , the teenager opens up about her pregnancy, which just passed the 12-week mark, and which she says came as a total shock to her.

“I can’t say it was something I was planning to do right now,” the 16-year-old confesses to OK!. “But now that it’s in my lap and that it’s something I have to deal with, I’m looking forward to being the best mom I can be.”

As for her decision to keep the baby, the Zoey 101 star explains, “I think my whole life I would have to live with knowing what I did or what I didn’t do.” And Jamie Lynn, who intends on raising the child in her home state of Louisiana, also tells OK! that she intends to face up to the life-changing choice she’s made. “I’m the one who has to live with it for the rest of my life,” she says. “I put myself in this position, an adult position, so I have to act like an adult and take responsibility for what I did.”

Of course, Jamie Lynn won’t be going it alone. Her mother, Lynne Spears, says to OK!, “I want her to ask me to help as much as she wants me to because I will be there for her. I want to be a big part, if she wants me to be.”

As for any message Jamie Lynn’s fans might take away from this news, the young actress is realistic. “I definitely don’t think it’s something you should do; it’s better to wait. But I can’t be judgmental because it’s a position I put myself in.”
