Has the Beckhams’ Bubble Burst?

Just eight months ago, David Beckham and wife Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham were the toast of the town at a dazzling “Welcome to L.A.” party held by new pals Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. But sources are telling OK! that they might be waking up from their American dream sooner than expected.

“David is very close to his family and would much rather be living in the UK,” a source close to the couple tells OK!. “A lot of things haven’t gone the way they thought it would.” The insider adds that there are whispers that the soccer stud would be very happy if someone bought out his contract with his current team, the L.A. Galaxy.

Meanwhile, it looks like Posh might be pushing to stay in La-La Land a little bit longer. Just this past weekend, while David was off in Asia on a promotional tour with the Galaxy, Victoria made the most of her Hollywood connections, grabbing dinner first with Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale at STK on Friday and then with Tom and Katie at Madeo on Sunday night.

“They couldn’t be happier here,” the pop star’s rep Cheryl Maisel tells OK!. “They aren’t having second thoughts.” Meanwhile, David’s rep gives a briefer (and perhaps more revealing) summary of the Beckhams’ situation, saying, “He is here to fulfill his contract.”

David Beckham Shuns Cancer Survivors?

Just about anywhere David Beckham goes, a throng of adoring fans await him, and it was no different earlier today as the soccer star arrived at his hotel in Sydney, Australia.

As Mr. Posh Spice walked through the hotel’s parking garage, a trio of young children, some of them cancer survivors, stood dressed in David’s L.A. Galaxy soccer jersey and holding plush animals to offer as gifts. But, in a move caught on video, Becks walked straight past the kids, leaving them crying and upset.

“I don’t think it’s very good for him to go straight past us,” one young fan told reporters following the apparent snub.

However, at a press conference later in the day, David pleaded ignorance. “I didn’t even see children when I arrived,” he claimed. As for ignoring them, he said, “that’s one thing I would never do, have never done and will never do.”

Becks offered up his apology and told reporters, “I’m more than willing to meet them whenever and wherever they want.”

David Beckham’s Surprise Makeover Visit

As if getting a new home weren’t enough, the family featured on this Sunday’s episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition also got something extra – a meeting with their favorite soccer player, David Beckham.

But wait, there’s more. Not only did the Los Angeles Galaxy player take time to meet the Millers of Cheyenne, Wyo., on their recent visit to New York (where the show sent them on vacation while their new residence was being built), but Becks gave their 10-year-old son, Dakota, the treat of his young life – a scholarship to Beckham’s Los Angeles-based soccer academy.

The youngster had been forced to quit the sport due to the fact that Radon, the poisonous gas that had infected the family’s original house, had caused him to wheeze severely.

Severe Health Concerns
In fact, the entire family had been suffering from respiratory illnesses as a result of Radon levels that were the equivalent to what four people would produce if they all smoked 12 cigarettes a day.

According to ABC, sports isn’t the Millers’ only passion. As pet lovers, the family had hoped to create a safe haven for abused and unwanted animals before the toxins threatened them. To that end, they were presented with a new dog and cat-care space, to go along with their new house.

Fellow animal lover, country music superstar Wynonna, was also on hand to welcome them to their new home, after performing for the hundreds of hard-working volunteers.

David rushes back to UK after dad suffers heart attack

England footie ace David Beckham has jetted back to the UK to be at his father’s side after Beckham senior suffered a serious heart attack. The LA-based star boarded a flight to London Heathrow shortly after being told his father, Ted, was seriously ill.

Fifty-nine-year-old gas fitter Ted - who is divorced from David’s mother - was rushed to hospital after complaining of chest pains at his Essex home. He’s now in a stable condition at an east London hospital.

According to reports, the soccer star’s dad had to be resuscitated in the ambulance en route. “Ted was in a bad way and actually died on his way to hospital,” a source told a British newspaper. “The paramedics managed to bring him back.”

David Beckham tells OK!: “I’m loving L.A.!”

When OK! chatted with international soccer star David Beckham this morning after his radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, he seemed to have fully integrated himself into the L.A. lifestyle after only a few months of living in California.

Speaking from behind his designer mirrored shades, and massaging the designer stubble on his jutting jaw, Beckham told OK! he was “still loving his L.A. experience” despite his recent injuries that have him sitting on the sideline. And what of wife, Posh Spice herself, Victoria Beckham? “She’s doing great,” David tells OK!.As for his injury, a strained ligament suffered earlier this week during a game, David explained to Seacrest that it’s “not so great,” and that he’ll be out at least eight to ten weeks. “Hopefully, I’ll be able to play before the end of the season,” he said. For some steamy photos of Becks, check out our Man Candy gallery!

David Beckham’s Injury Won’t Impede Baby-Making Plans

Though yesterday’s injury might have ended David Beckham’s season with the Los Angeles Galaxy, the international soccer star and his family are loving life in America and are ready to expand the Beckham brand — literally.

In an interview this morning on Ryan Seacrest’s L.A. radio show, Becks, 32, says that despite the honor of being admired by women the world over, it’s coming home to Posh, 33, and sons Brooklyn, 8, Romeo, 5, and Cruz, 2, that makes him happy. Will there be more members of the Beckham brood to greet him soon? Read on for excerpts!:

On life as an international heartthrob:
“It’s an honor. I think that it’s always nice to have the attention like that. But it’s also amazing to be married to one of the most beautiful women in the world.”

On the paparazzi:
“It’s been pretty intense since we arrived…more than what we are used to. We’re used to being followed by four or five cars maybe, but to have forty seven cars in the first week, every day, following us, it was pretty insane.”

On life in the U.S.:
“We’re enjoying it. It’s a country that has sort of embraced us…everyone has been so positive, about not just me as a soccer player, but Victoria as a person…When she does a TV program or a radio program, people actually see what she’s like as a person and see that she’s got a great sense of humor…people really warm to her.”

On the possibility of more Beckhams:
At some point…When we first met, we never even spoke about how many kids we wanted. It was just lucky that we both actually wanted around the same number. We both want four or five kids…we’re very family oriented.

On trying to have a girl this time around:
That’s one thing I’ll be trying — changing my diet and wearing tight pants!”

David Beckham to Miss Six Weeks with New Injury

Time to mend it like Beckham.

David Beckham, the British soccer import who seems to have spent more time on the trainer’s table than the field, will now be out for about six weeks with a sprained ligament in his knee, the Los Angeles Galaxy announced Thursday.

The midfielder, who previously nursed an injured ankle that cost him playing time, got the bad news after he underwent an MRI exam and was evaluated by the Galaxy’s team physician. Beckham now begins rehab on the knee.

During the 30th minute of play in the Galaxy vs. CF Pachuca Superliga final at the Home Depot Center on Wednesday evening, Beckham suffered a fierce tackle on the left corner of the field. He went down hard and stayed down.

All in the stadium were on their feet as Beckham, 32, signaled to the bench for assistance. He limped to the sideline as a substitute stepped onto the field to fill in.

With the score tied 1-1, Beckham hobbled back onto the grass in the second half of overtime play. “I had to get back out there to cheer on the lads as much as I could,” he said after the game.

The Galaxy later lost in a penalty-kick shoot-out.

David’s American Dream suffers another painful blow

LA Galaxy’s star signing David Beckham could be on the sidelines for up to six weeks after straining ligaments in his right knee during his team’s defeat against Pachuca in the SuperLiga trophy. The frustrating turn of events means the midfielder, who has been recovering from an ankle injury, could miss out on playing in England’s crucial Euro 2008 qualifiers.

He’s almost certain not to play England’s matches against Israel and Russia at Wembley on September 8 and 12, unless a scan reveals good news. A clearly disappointed Becks, who declared “I hate losing” after Wednesday’s match, hobbled off the pitch in the 33rd minute.

“It’s just gone from one thing to another,” he admitted. “Maybe it’s time for me to just say, ‘I need a rest’, and get it right and don’t come back until it’s right.” However the former England Captain remained optimistic about still playing for his country. “If the scan’s not so bad maybe I’ve got a chance to play,” he added.

David Beckham Gives the Dirt on American Dirt

David Beckham prefers his native soil – literally.

“I’m not used to the harder ground out here,” the UK soccer transplant writes in his blog, referring to a recent game at Giants Stadium. “But being quite stubborn, I was determined to play the whole game and I’m glad that I did.”

Beckham’s Los Angeles Galaxy lost 5-4 to the New York Red Bulls last Saturday, but his first Major League Soccer start drew more than 66,000 fans.

“It was brilliant to play the full ninety minutes against Red Bull New York,” he writes. “On top of being given the honour of captain again, I managed to set up a few goals, which obviously, was a great feeling even though we were really unfortunate to concede a late goal and lose the game. The atmosphere at the Giants’ stadium was incredible, and there was a huge turnout for the match, which really gave us all a fantastic buzz.”

And aside from the tough turf, all is well in Beckham’s galaxy. “I’m still getting to know my teammates on the pitch and learning more about the way they play with every game,” he writes, “but I feel I’ve played a part over the past two fixtures and I’m really looking forward to future matches.”

Tasty bite of the Big Apple for David as he meets Harlem children

His eldest son is called Brooklyn, but it was the kids of Harlem who captured football superstar David Beckham’s heart during a visit to New York.

The 32-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy captain found himself mobbed by eager fans ahead of the weekend’s match against New York Red Bulls.

Smiling broadly, Galaxy’s £128-million player treated the delighted youngsters of the Harlem Youth Soccer League to one of his popular football clinics, showing off an impressive array of moves in his mission to convert the United States to the beautiful game.

Not even the playful heckling from the basketball players in the neighbouring court could stop him. Instead, David bounded past the security cordon to chat to the young men and happily signed autographs – even if some of the balls offered for his signature weren’t the usual round shape the England star is used to. Alongside baseball mitts and basketballs, one confused fan held up a rugby-shaped American football to receive the wanted signature.

And it seems being in the city that never sleeps gave the player a valuable boost. “Just being in the city is a great vibe from moment you touch down to the moment you leave,” he told reporters. “There’s just so much energy here.”

Though Galaxy were eventually beaten 5-4, David - who is recovering from an ankle injury - will have been buoyed by his team’s spirited performance and his own participation for the full 90 minutes, before a record 66,000-strong crowd.
