In these exclusive photos, proud pop Larry Birkhead shows off his birthday girl to The Insider’s Lara Spencer, with whom he talked about his

Wearing a purple velvet crown with the number “1″ on it, Dannielynn sat in a Barney highchair eating her multi-layered, half-chocolate, half-vanilla, castle-shaped cake at the bash, which took place Saturday, September 8 at the Louisville, Kentucky, home of socialite Tricia Barnstable Brown.

The nearly 200 guests feasted on pizza and pink lemonade. Other touches: An inflatable princess castle and two hot air balloons. The highlight for the birthday girl? A performance by the purple dinosaur himself.

On what he’d say to Anna Nicole about Dannielynn:
LB: “I would say, ‘I hope you’re proud of the way she’s growing up and getting big.’”

On what he hopes to give Dannielynn for her 1st birthday:
LB: “Give her another happy day in life. I know she’s not going to understand everything that’s going on but just something that she can say one day, ‘Wow, what a cool party, what a cool dad!’”

On if Dannielynn is starting to talk:
LB: “We’ve heard her say “da-da” a few times.”

On keeping her mother and brother’s memories alive
LB: “I show her pictures all the time and I say, ‘This is your mommy and this is your brother Daniel.’ We talk about them all the time.”

On whether she resembles her late brother Daniel:
LB: “Yeah, sometimes. Especially when she gets out of the bath and her hair is parted to the side like a little boy, she looks a lot like Daniel.”

Larry Birkhead is making sure that his daughter Dannielynn is having a birthday fit for a princess! In Touch can reveal that Larry has been planning a special first birthday party in his hometown of Louisville, Ky.The party will be held September 8 at the mansion of Tricia Barnstable Brown - the very place where Larry first met the late Anna Nicole. Two hundred friends and family members are expected - and we hear that Papa John’s is providing pizza for them all!

“Larry knew he wanted a princess theme from the start,” says Dawson Bullock, who created the invitation at her Designs by Dawson shop. “He chose a tiara and wand invitation, and the front reads ‘Princess Dannielynn.’ When we first showed little Dannielynn the invitation, her whole face lit up! She is absolutely adorable!”

Bullock tells In Touch that Larry began planning the party in early August, and he has been very hands-on. “He’s genuinely a devoted, caring father,” says Bullock. “He even ordered handmade thank-you notes!”

Dawson’s shop also created a special shadowbox to display the invitation. “We wanted Dannielynn to have a keepsake, since she won’t remember her first birthday.” How sweet!

As preparations are being made to celebrate Dannielynn Hope Marshall Birkhead’s first birthday, sources close to the little girl tell Us Weekly that making sure she knows how much her mother Anna Nicole Smith loved her is a top priority.

Dannielynn, who lost both her mother and brother, Daniel, within six months of each other, was at the center of a months-long international media frenzy, as her father, Larry Birkhead, fought to prove his paternity. But now that he and his daughter are together, settled in the 5,5000-square-foot, five-bedroom L.A. mansion that Smith purchased in 2004, keeping Anna Nicole’s memory alive has become Birkhead’s constant focus.

“Larry says that it’s important Dannielynn knows about her mom,” his older sister, Judy Birkhead tells Us.

“He’s always telling Dannielynn how much he loved Anna and how great she was.”

Birkhead, 34, has put photos of Dannielynn’s mom everywhere. “He’ll point at pictures and show Dannielynn videos of her too,” Judy says.

Smith also set aside keepsakes for her daughter – including letters she had written for her – that Birkhead is saving for when the baby grows up.

Longtime friend Jane Rose-Zupetz tells Us, “When Anna was pregnant, she painted a lot for Dannielynn. Larry will give her those, also.”

But for now, the next milestone is September 7, when Dannielynn turns one. Birkhead is planning a big birthday bash, and 200 guests have been invited to celebrate, inluding Dolly Parton, Dannielynn’s favorite singer.

“It’s a celebration for Dannielynn, but it’s also a celebration for what Larry had to go through to hold his daughter,” Rose-Zupetz tells Us.
