Four days after the tragic and sudden death of Oscar-nominated actor Heath Ledger, the star was remembered at a black tie gala for G’Day USA: Australia Week at Manhattan’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

Hundreds were gathered as John Olsen, consul-general in New York for Australia, read a message to the crowd, which included Jessica Alba and Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon, from Heath’s father, Kim Ledger.

“Heath is, and always will be, an Australian. He adored his home,” read the statement, which had the audience teary-eyed. “His last two weeks with us over Christmas in Perth were just bliss. Heath did not become an actor for the fame or fortune. He loved his craft and he loved helping his friends. He loved chess and skateboarding too. My image of Heath in New York is him with his skateboard, a canvas bag and his beanie. That was Heath to me.”

On Friday, Kim had flown from Australia to New York to escort the body of his late son, who passed away on Jan. 22, from causes still yet to be determined, back to Australia. It is being reported out of Heath’s home country that he will be laid to rest in his hometown of Perth, Australia, early this week.

Rapper Foxy Brown has apparently taken a few notes from Naomi Campbell. The 27-year-old singer, who is on probation for attacking two manicurists at a nail salon in 2004, has been charged with assault and possession of a weapon — her cell phone. Brown was arrested Tuesday for allegedly hitting a neighbor with her BlackBerry.

Arlene Raymond, 25, lives near the temper-tantrum prone rapper in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn. Police said the two women got into a fight on July 30 over Brown blasting her car stereo. A few days later, Raymond and Brown allegedly passed each other on the street when Brown flung her Blackberry at Raymond, cutting her lip and loosening a tooth.

Brown was released on $50,000 bail after her arraignment on charges of felony assault, misdemeanor assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Her manager, Chaz Williams, said the charges were false.

Earlier this year, Foxy allegedly threw glue at a beauty shop employee, and was threatened with jail in Florida. Now, with her most recent assault charge, her probation may be revoked.

“We have filed a violation of probation with the court,” said Jack Ryan, a spokesman for the city Department of Probation.

He’s inviting The Hills’ fans who blame him for coming between former BFFs Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag to feel free to blast him on his
website.

And in the wake of Us Weekly’s exclusive interview this week with Conrad and her anti-Pratt MTV co-stars, Pratt is accusing the fledgling fashion designer of being “a spoiled bratt” and of using Montag to get attention for herself.

Pratt also claims that Conrad destroyed the alleged sex tape made with her ex-boyfriend Jason Whaler and threatens the Teen Vogue intern, saying that he and Montag are willing to take a public lie detector test addressing the rumors.

The Hills third season starts August 13, but there’s already plenty of drama happening off the air!
