It was confirmed this morning by British officials that UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband was to take a meeting later this week with one of America’s most influential political figures — No, not some senator or cabinet member; but Angelina Jolie, star of such films as Hackers and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

While the details are still to be determined, the content of this meeting of the minds (Miliband prides himself on being the first high-ranking Brit official to blog. Neat!) will likely revolve around Angie’s current work as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador to the High Commissioner for Refugees.

That, or maybe Miliband just wants an autograph.

Regardless, this confab, sure to dwarf the Camp David Accords or the Yalta Conference in
its place in history, will take place this Friday in New York City. Perhaps between trips to FAO Schwartz with her kids.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie just can’t get enough of each other.

They kissed and caressed their way through a party for Pitt’s new flick The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford Tuesday night at Guastavino’s in NYC.

Though they spent most of the night apart as each made the rounds, they reunited around 12:15 a.m. when Pitt, 43, held hands with Jolie, 32, and rubbed and tickled her back.

Shortly thereafter, when they smooched on the lips, Jolie couldn’t contain herself anymore. “You’re so cute!” she gushed. They capped off the night whispering, giggling and smiling at each other in between — yep! — more kissing before heading out around 12:40 a.m.

“They looked completely in love and genuinely happy,” the witness adds. But Jolie wasn’t the only lady Pitt had love for that night. When a female fan held up a napkin reading ” It’s my birthday. Take a picture with me, Brad!” the actor happily obliged.

The scene inside the Children’s Museum of Manhattan was even more chaotic than usual on Aug. 23. “I took the kids I baby-sit, and we saw Angelina Jolie and her children,” says one excited museum-goer. “My kids weren’t interested, but I was freaking out!” While the witness thought Angie’s children were adorable, the actress’ appearance left a different impression. “She looked horrifyingly skinny,” the witness says.

As Life & Style has reported, Brad Pitt’s been concerned with Angelina’s frail appearance for months and has begged her to get help. But she’s continued to shed weight and hovers around 100 pounds, estimates personal trainer and star of Bravo’s Work Out Brian Peeler, who hasn’t treated Angie.

Angelina, 32, started taking the pills, which contain stimulants to increase metabolism, in an attempt to get more energy, says a friend of hers. “Brad’s very worried about her long-term health,” says the friend. “[Brad] says the whole thing is putting a new strain on their relationship,” a Pitt family friend says. “He’s tired from looking after four young children, and he feels like he has to baby-sit Angelina, too. The poor guy is frazzled, and he doesn’t know how much more he can take.”

Angelina Jolie is globe-trotting again! After spending the weekend in New York with Brad Pitt and the kids, the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador flew to Syria on Monday and visited Iraq on Tuesday meeting with refugees displaced by war.

“I have come to Syria and Iraq to help draw attention to this humanitarian crisis and to urge governments to increase their support for UNHCR and its partners,” Jolie said. “My sole purpose in both countries is to highlight the plight of those uprooted by the war in Iraq.”

The UN refugee agency estimates more than 4.2 million Iraqis have left their homes. Jolie said, “It is absolutely essential that the ongoing debate about Iraq’s future includes plans for addressing the enormous humanitarian consequences these people face.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie treated their kids to the quintessential New York City weekend, complete with a trip to a hot-dog cart and a carousel ride in Central Park. Then on Saturday night, it was all about helping a good cause: The pair took a helicopter to the Hamptons to host a dinner party raising money to help rebuild New Orleans.

Both dressed in white, Jolie, 32, and Pitt, 43, left Manhattan and flew into Westhampton for the event, after they were diverted from nearby East Hampton because of foggy conditions. From there, the couple ended up taking a cab to the home of Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, the married couple who co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival with Robert De Niro.

Christie Brinkley, Ellen Barkin and Jimmy Buffett were among the celeb guests, New York’s Daily News reports, and Pitt himself gave a speech on helping those affected by Katrina.

The more than 50 guests were served cocktails followed by dinner (a buffet of lamb, salmon and corn pudding), all under a giant tent decorated with black-and-white photos of everyday life in New Orleans.

The fund-raiser helped promote Pitt’s Make It Right project, which is aiming to rebuild areas of New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward with environmentally friendly homes.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are heading for the Hamptons but it’s not for a weekend of fun in the sun. The couple are hosting a dinner of about 50 people this Saturday night to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

According to an Usmagazine.com source, the expectation is that the guests will make an extremely large financial commitment to the project.

The dinner will take place at the home of producer Jane Rosenthal and her husband Craig Hatkoff.

Jolie, 32, and Rosenthal are friendly from working together on The Good Shepherd, which Rosenthal produced. Jolie also premiered her documentary, A Place in Time, at the Tribeca Film Festival, which Rosenthal helped co-found with Robert De Niro.

The couple is said to be traveling in and out by helicopter and not staying the weekend.

When Angelina Jolie brought her oldest son, Maddox, with her to LA Studios on Aug. 3, it wasn’t just to give him the chance to see his mom at work. Angie, 32, also wanted to spirit Mad away from the family’s Santa Barbara, Calif., home so that Brad Pitt, 43, could get the house ready for the action-packed weekend the couple had in store for their son’s 6th birthday!

“Brad and Angelina were heavily involved in the preparations,” says an insider. “They set up everything themselves.” Brad did everything in his power to make his eldest son’s birthday special. “Brad and Maddox have a unique father-son bond,” says a friend of Angie’s.

On Aug. 4, the gang — which included about eight other boys, including the children of Angie and Brad’s security team — motored around on ATVs. The festivities continued on Aug. 5 — the day Maddox was born — as Brad set up a waterslide!

Siblings Zahara, 2, Pax, 3, and Shiloh, 15 months, surprised Maddox with Playstation games, and Angie and Brad bought him a dirt bike, leather jacket and helmet. “Brad says Maddox had the best birthday ever,” a Pitt family friend says.

In the past two months, Life & Style and In Touch have published no less than four cover stories predicting or even announcing Brangelina’s demise.

Citing things as mundane as motorcycle rides or (gasp!) solo outings with the kids, the reports might lead one to think that every tiny daily detail is a threat to the couple’s happy home.

And yet today, while the couple continues to vacation together in France, Pitt’s rep assures Usmagazine.com that the rumors are (once again) much ado about nothing. She tells Us, “These magazines continue to write lies about our clients to sell magazines.”

Rest assured, Us readers, America’s most famous family remains intact.
