Amy Winehouse and her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, have checked into a “retreat” in Essex, England, Fielder-Civil confirmed to BBC Radio One’s Newsbeat program.

“The main thing is that me and Amy are getting better,” Fielder-Civil said on Winehouse’s North London doorstep Thursday. “Don’t worry, she’s being looked after. We’re going back to this retreat. She’s determined to get well.”

Fielder-Civil, 23, said the couple – who wed in May – were focused on recovery.

“It’s not as bad as everyone thinks, but she’s fine, she’s loved and looked after,” he added. The couple were interviewed outside Winehouse’s home, where they went after visiting three pubs in Camden, spending 10 minutes in each.

“We only came back to get a guitar,” Fielder-Civil said. “But of course in the paper that’s interpreted that me and Amy are both so weak we left after three days.”

Earlier Thursday, Winehouse’s rep refuted that the singer was or is in rehab, but announced the cancellation of all the singer’s August commitments.

When Winehouse was asked if reports of drug abuse were true, she said: “I wouldn’t say so, no.”

The 23-year-old singer, who’s been looking noticeably thinner lately, added: “I’m fine, I’ve put on half a stone [7 pounds] and I’m fine.”

Before the couple made their getaway in a waiting car, Fielder-Civil said newspaper reports that Winehouse was addicted to heroin and cocaine were trumped up.

“I wouldn’t believe it, no,” he said. “I would say there are a few problems there, but certainly not the magnitude that my mum was falsely quoted as saying.

On Aug. 8, Winehouse was admitted to London’s University College London Hospital for exhaustion. She was subsequently treated and released.

British singer Amy Winehouse is still saying “no, no, no” to rehab!

The 23-year-old crooner reportedly collapsed on Aug. 8 due to a drug overdose, and had to be given an adrenaline injection and have her stomach pumped. “It was just crazy — one of the most terrifying moments of my life,” Winehouse told Britain’s News of the World.

But the singer still regards rehab as a “cop out” and has instead chosen to recuperate by surrounding herself with friends and family. “When I get self-destructive, I just need to spend time with my dad,” Amy has reportedly said.
