Premiere of Warner Bros. Pictures' & Spyglass Entertainment's "Invictus"

Sometimes you just know a tension headache is coming, but here goes: Brad Pitt took Angelina out for a private, adults-only overnight stay at a hotel. Here’s the kicker: it was to celebrate their “fifth anniversary” according to Life & Style. Which would mean that they were celebrating the start of their relationship… back in November 2004. Back when Brad and Jennifer Aniston were married. Gah!

For most couples, date night means dinner and a movie. But Brad Pitt went all out to impress Angelina Jolie on Saturday, Nov. 28. That day, Life & Style has learned exclusively, the star contacted Hollywood’s private, ultra-luxurious Chateau Marmont hotel to arrange a surprise overnight stay for the couple. To keep the information from getting out — and to keep Angie in the dark — only top-level hotel staff members were informed.

“They checked in around 4 p.m. and were ushered straight to their poolside bungalow,” says an insider at the hotel. “They were holding hands when they arrived, and Angie was really excited. She was like a kid — she kept asking Brad what he was up to, and he just smiled knowingly. They looked like they were on a date — they had no security with them, and they were incredibly relaxed.”

What prompted such a deeply romantic evening for a couple who almost never go out by themselves? Their fifth anniversary! The couple fell in love while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2004, Angie’s admitted.

Additional info: apparently, they ordered “pasta and vodka via room service, and didn’t leave the room until the next day, when they had a “triple date” with Cindy Crawford and her husband and George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis.” Except the triple date was just that party for George’s movie, where Angelina and Elisabetta tried to emotionally shank each others’ souls. Or maybe that’s just how it happened in my mind. Could be.

As far as the “fifth anniversary” thing… well, who knows? Yes, it could totally be the truth. Or Brad and Angelina decided to spend a night away from the kids, and someone clever at Life & Style decided to put a “fifth anniversary” spin on it.
